In 2011 I rode for the first time in the Agony because I simply owned a bike and thought “if I know how to ride, then shouldn’t I be doing this!?” It was simple for me: we do the hard things we can when we know the fight is worthy. Of course I was completely unprepared and had no idea just how difficult it would be! And my body still remembers that pain in the depths of the night… 2am, 3am, 4… when you’re not sure if it’d be better to stand up to relieve the pain of sitting on that tiny little bike seat, or whether or not you’re even strong enough to stand, or whether or not you’re too delirious to ride a straight line!! But when that morning glow begins in the Sierra Valley, and the sunlight begins to light up the sky, hope of a new day begins to grow and you feel the warmth return in mind, body and soul and it’s hard not to recall the beautiful promise of God that “His mercies are new every morning.” - Lamentations 3:23
I’ve since developed an intense passion for riding and although I took a bit of a hiatus from actually riding in the Agony (truth be told: it’s REALLY REALLY REALLY difficult!!!), I haven’t stopped sponsoring riders year after year because the cause is so worthy. And this is why I challenge you to consider being a sponsor yourself. My personal journey with the Lord has carried a theme that remains unchanged: He is faithful and His pursuit of us is relentless. We all carry the baggage of failures, regrets, hurts, self-doubt, judgments, the list goes on, and in all of us there is an ever-present longing for hope and a future. The good news of Jesus is that He loves us in spite of our failures, He sees our hurts and not only has compassion but He draws near to our broken hearts, He calls us by name and declares our identity, a child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, and He leaves the 99 to find the one: you. The beauty of God, the beauty of His son, is that irregardless of anything you’ve done, or anything done to you, He promises to “never leave you nor forsake you” and he declares “I, I the Lord, will seek after my (child), I will go and find them.” Christian Encounter Ranch carries this same mission, to seek and find the lost and to restore and renew the hearts and minds of young teens and adults through intentional living, providing opportunity to experience “how wide and long and high and deep is the Love of Christ, to know a Love that surpasses understanding, and to be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” -Ephesians 3:18-19
Consider joining me through financial support and faithful prayer as I try to break the cranks off my bike for these kids of the Ranch!!

Hi Justin - think on this as you ride: 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. God bless you, brother, with His Strength, Peace, Joy, and Love, in Jesus' Name. Amen. - Rick & Betty Heerema, Titus 2:11-14, Rom. 15:13
Enjoy the ride! 😊
May God be the wind under your wings
